Stomach Flu / Stomach Bug Symptoms
The stomach flu is different from the regular flu as it only affects your digestive system. Generally, the stomach flu will last only a few days, but can have symptoms last as long as 10 days.
Food Poisoning Symptoms
Food poisoning can be casued by by many things including bacteria in food, toxins in food, or parasites.
Very Minor - You do not feel sick every day, but you are able to recognize it as morning sickness when you do feel sick to your stomach. When you are ill you feel slightly nauseous, but it passes within an hour or so later.
Minor - You feel ill mostly in the morning, but sometimes the smell of food can make you temporarily lose your appetite. Sometimes you feel as if you may vomit, but vomiting isn't common.
Standard - You feel sick on a daily basis, but it gradually gets better throughout the day. You have to avoid cooking certain foods because the cooking smells make you feel ill. You occasionally dry-heave and sometimes vomit, but you have no trouble keeping food down when you feel better.
Moderate - You are sick nearly every day. It's a good day when you don't dry-heave or vomit. Sometimes you feel so ill you cannot eat for a few hours. Your morning sickness is most common in the morning, but it occasionally lasts until the early afternoon.
Bad - You feel nauseous most of the day and vomit twice per day. You have trouble keeping food down and the smell of certain foods not only causes a loss of appetite, but also triggers dry-heaving or vomiting. Just the thought of eating a particular type of food can trigger vomiting or dry heaving.
Severe - You have to plan your day around your morning sickness. Sometimes you feel so ill that you cannot get out of bed for a large portion of the day. You vomit three to five different times per day and have trouble keeping food down. When you're not vomiting you feel so nauseous that you cannot eat. You feel dehydrated and extremely weak and sometimes feel as if you may have a fever. You should contact your doctor if you have one or more of these symptoms.
